Abstract

The problem of balancing assembly lines has been studied by many researchers of operations management. Most of the analytical techniques developed have failed to provide a practical solution. The heuristic methods however have proved most useful in arriving at practical solutions. This article concentrates on the heuristic methods which were developed for assembly line balancing.
