Abstract

Determining the objective of the enterprise is the most important single aspect that management has to consider. The objective indicates the direction in which the enterprise will operate during its entire life. As such it is of great importance because it means that all activities in the enterprise must aim at achieving this objective.

Traditionally, the objective has been depicted as a single aim to maximise profits - what exactly this meant if practice was not always clear. This article is an attempt to describe in more practical terms, with reference to the S.A. Clothing Industry, what the objective of the enterprise really means.
