Abstract

Management career planning determines the way ahead, and the ways ahead of its managers form the way ahead of the organisation. Various surveys in the United Kingdom and the United States show that management development is actively applied in dynamic growing organisations, while free wheeling organisations pay little attention to this activity.

After discussing the pre-requisites for successful development the author briefly discusses management development and career planning as a part thereof. The career planning process is, discussed. This is a continuous process which includes work oriented activities and a variety of internal and external facilities, depending on the individual needs of each manager and potential manager.
