Abstract

In this article the author develops a framework for the development of the information management function to serve as a basis for training in the management of information. He maintains that a basic need for training in this function exists which must be more management rather than technically oriented. As a line function it is an integral part of every manager's job. Development of the function implies training in both data gathering and data processing as staff functions.
