Abstract

The aim of this article is to introduce the reader to linear programming and mixed integer programming techniques in the evaluation of capital investments.

A general model for a one-division organization is formulated and discussed in full. This model takes into account 9 types of restrictions and provision is made for the use of long-term financing in addition to the use of any short-term financing as reported in the literature to date. The provision for the use of long-term financing is a new development.
