Abstract

Operational Research is defined as a scientific method to provide managers with a quantitative basis for taking decisions regarding the activities under their control. This article indicates to managers how this technique may be used by them to solve a wide variety of problems e.g. in the field of inventories, problems of congestion and queueing, allocation problems, replacement of equipment, sampling and other mathematical and statistical problems aimed at improving the efficiency of the activities of the industrial concern.
